With the Dungeons, upgrading it goes very quickly I have good gold income so I can easily spare 50g to speed up production on anything that takes two turns instead of just one. I focus Maat’s production on buildings for the time being. In the process, I’ll pick up a bunch of generally- and situationally-useful spells, like Desecration and Scorched Earth. What’s the point of building powerhouse killers if they have to take a breather after every fight? It’s not currently in my available research options, though, so I start going through other low-hanging fruit to try to clear a space for it. It’ll stack with Vampiric Hunger to give units Greater Lifestealing. What I really need right now is Embrace Darkness, which gives a city’s produced units Life Stealing. I can research Dread Reapers right now, but it’ll take like ten turns and there’s other stuff I need more immediately (this is totally the train of thought that led me to not getting Eternal City, if you’ve been following along ).

Especially on water maps.I’m also keeping an eye on Sage - the two bonus spells are sometimes really good, and whoever gets it first is likely to get the Paragon unit as well. Humans are not my first pick for Warlord, but they are a solid choice. Add in Warlord's Thoroughbred Mounts skill and find a city with a Crystal Tree (for armour upgrades) and you can get some very cost-effective fast and hard-hitting cavalry armies of knights and Mounted Archers. The tier 2 can evolve (and with Warlord XP boosts or Global Assault this is much faster) and the tier 3 is a hard-hitting high-quality unit. This makes a very big difference in the early game, as you can expand much more quickly if you get your units healed up after a fight. * Access to healing, again from the Priest. Find a focus chamber and they'll have 3 damage channel arrows. The Mounted Archers are particularly good, probably second only to the Elven type. These races make up a key part of the games history and universe if future races are added, there is a. Pretty minor, but a big help in fighting all those undead. 18 races exist in AoWs lore: the 9 in Age of Wonders 3 (6 in the base game, 1 from the Golden Realms expansion, and 2 more in the Eternal Lords expansion), and another 9 that only exist in previous instalments of the series. * Access to spirit damage from Priests, Archers (at gold medal) and Mounted Archers. Warlords require a strong economy to pay for their armies, humans have a great one thanks to innate production bonuses, and things like a settler discounts & harbour income from racial governance. Human warlords have a few things going for them:
